About New Salem Church
New Salem Baptist Church is a missions-minded church. Through our affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Holston Baptist Association, we support local, state, national and international missions.
At NSBC, our ministry includes music, solid Biblical preaching and teaching and Bible study for the entire family. We focus our events on the family atmosphere of our church and on the family atmosphere of the brotherhood of Jesus Christ.
NSBC focuses on the needs of the family. We seek to help every member of the family, from the youngest to the oldest, find a peaceful and meaningful life through a saving and life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. We are seeking to be the family of believers that God wants us to be.
We observe two ordinances here at NSBC, water baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper (referred to as Communion by some denominations). These ordinances are public expressions of our obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Water baptism is not essential to salvation but is a symbolic expression of our death and burial to the old life of sin and the rebirth to a new life in Christ.
The Lord's Supper, reminiscent of Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples, is a reminder of Christ's broken body on the cross and the blood He shed for the remission of our sins.
